All In For Christ
All In For Christ
She knew God created the earth and the heavens. She knew Jesus was God’s son and that He was wonderful. So, she made the decision to become a Christian. That decision shaped the rest of her life through the natural progression of following God.
“His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’”
Few have a grand vision for their lives. Clara Lynn Williams probably didn’t either. She had an ability and a heart to teach, so she started there. Then she just did what was next. As each new door opened, she walked through it… the door in front of her, then the next one, then the next. She didn’t know where the road would take her, but she believed that we were “saved to serve” and considered her work to be a “contribution of gratitude” for all God had done for her and her family.
We’ve seen the poker matches where someone says “I’m all in” or “Go big or go home.” That “all in” mentality is what Clara Lynn Williams had. Her “YES” was on the table for whatever The Lord wanted in her life… and why not? If Christ was who He said He was, and she believed He was; then why would she do anything less than give all of her life to Him? It was the natural progression as a follower of Jesus Christ.
Truthfully, most of us are so busy we have a hard time recognizing the first open door. It may be in a conversation with a friend, helping a neighbor, or serving in a local church. God can use anything to speak to our hearts and direct our steps. He has built into each of us the gifts we need to serve Him well and to help others around us. Many times it is something we are naturally drawn to and He supernaturally shows up and confirms it to us. We know in our heart that is where we need to be. No fanfare. No huge announcement. We prepare as best we can and then walk through the door He sets before us. In the process, we enter into the joy that comes from being obedient and serving God.
Is there something you’re holding back? Do you have a buried talent? Is there a place you can work or serve that you haven’t yet made time for in your schedule? As you read this, has God already nudged your heart with a thought or vision of what He might have for you? I believe we are happiest in life when we are “all in” for Christ. Do you believe that? Do you think God will respond to your effort? He already tells us in scripture that He will. Test Him on this. Who knows what The Lord has for you!
Miss Clara Lynn Williams had no idea when she started on her journey where her path would lead. We may not see the big picture either, and may never see it until Jesus Himself shows it to us. I believe our greatest gain in this life will be living in the joy of the Master as we fulfill all of the purposes He has for us. Don’t you want that? He can use the smallest of gifts! You have a valuable role to play in God’s kingdom! Don’t miss the joy! Be “all in” for Christ!
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, I want to be “all in” for You. I am watching and listening. Show me how and where You want me to serve. My “yes” is on the table. I want to fulfill all of the purposes You have for my life. In Jesus name.
Amen
