the Direction of the Father

As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.

The Direction of the Father

One decision shaped the destiny of the Ntibonera family. “My Dad is the leader of the family. So he told us, ‘I want everybody to grab whatever we can. It’s time to run,’”John Ntibonera said. Who knows what would have happened if they had not followed the direction of their father. There was no delay, only obedience. They knew their father had their best interest at heart. They knew they could trust Him. So they followed him.

A good earthly father bears the banner of God. He exemplifies God’s love, protection, guidance, compassion, discipline, and much more. No man is perfect. You may not have, or have had, what you consider to be a “good” father. That is where the love of God our Heavenly Father steps into the picture.

“Father” is one of the most commonly used descriptors of God in the Bible. I think God did that because, no matter what kind of father we have, we will always need a heavenly father to walk with us through the challenges life presents.

Our Heavenly Father will never leave us. Always present; He will guide, comfort, provide, love and “be there” for us as no human father ever can. His guidance can save our lives but only if we follow His direction. God must be the authority of our lives just as a human father has the authority in a home. It is the example God gave us so we can understand both the relationship and responsibility of being a child of God.

Have you accepted God as your Heavenly Father? If not, why not? He loves you. He wants only the best for you. If you have not already done so, take time now to establish that relationship. If He is already your Heavenly Father, renew that relationship and your responsibility to listen to Him and follow His guidance.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I believe You love me. Jesus, I believe You died and rose from the dead to save me from all my sin. I trust You. Please come into my life and guide me in Your ways. I want to live my life under Your authority and in relationship with You. I want to follow Your direction every day. Holy Spirit, I ask for Your help. Thank You, Father, for loving me and saving me.
In the name of Jesus I pray.
Amen.
